🌻 Reading tips for families and classrooms

  1. Read together. Let children choose a story, then alternate reading pages aloud.
  2. Ask one question at a time. Try “What happened first?” or “How did the character feel?”
  3. Play with words. Use the sight-word flashcards and look for the same words on each page.
  4. Celebrate effort. Encourage children without ranking or comparing reading speeds.
  5. Match the level to the child. Age bands are suggestions, not a reading assessment.
All worksheets here are free and contain only Miatta Tales original content. Parents and educators may print for personal and classroom use.

🌟 Start Here: A Parent & Teacher Reading Guide

Choose any free story and take your time. Children can listen, read, talk, and practice words at their own pace. No account is required.

1. Choose a comfortable level

Beginning readers often enjoy short sentences with an adult. Growing readers can alternate pages. Independent readers can discuss new vocabulary and character decisions. Ages are suggestions, not assessments.

2. Read or listen together

Open the story, choose one-page or two-page reading, and press Read Aloud if helpful. Pause for predictions and use Replay Page to listen again.

3. Practice six sight words

Try the in-book word practice and flashcards. Invite the child to say a word, look for it in the story, and hear it spoken.

4. Try the quiz and activity sheet

Encourage thinking instead of rushing. Answer three story questions and download the matching two-page PDF to write, draw, or discuss.

5. Celebrate and return
